Frequently Asked Questions

We know change isn’t always easy, and news of a company acquisition may spark a lot of questions. Please know we are here to listen, answer any questions that you have, and support you throughout this process.

To start, we have answered some commonly asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact Flagship’s HR Team at: HR@Flagshipinc.com, or submit it to the information form here.

The acquisition is a positive step in BTS’ long-term growth plans and a testament to the accomplishments and reputation of our incredible team. Flagship recognizes our unique position in our industry and the growing need for the services we have pioneered within the Life Sciences space.

By leveraging Flagship’s backing and ability to scale, we will provide more service options for our customers and prospects. BTS will have the breadth and capabilities to do what we do best!

This change will bring new opportunities for employees and clients.

BTS will have a more extensive network of resources and infrastructure to support client needs, grow with clients as they get bigger, and expand our footprint through Flagship’s nationwide client base.

For employees, joining Flagship provides a broader company structure, offering greater possibilities for career advancement and opportunities for growth in new markets.

After the April public announcement, BTS will take on the Flagship Facility Services name, and all clients and employees will fall under its Lab Services division.

Over the next few months, BTS will undergo a phased brand integration into Flagship’s Lab Services division. In April, we will make a public announcement. In June, we will use the visibility and reach of the Bio International Convention to introduce the company’s new branding and scope.

Behind the scenes, we are working closely with Flagship’s IT, HR, and Finance teams to transition administrative items like new timekeeping, payroll, and HR systems. As Flagship employees, we will transition each of you into these administrative items during the first week. Flagship’s HR team will be onsite to guide us through the changes and be hands-on with training.

Our jobs will be the same tomorrow as they were yesterday, and our goals and vision will remain unchanged. We continue pushing forward as a united team, but we now have more infrastructure and support to take our people and processes to the next level.

As mentioned, your day-to-day duties and job assignments remain the same. Over the next few months, most of the changes will occur with the technology and administrative systems that we currently use.

As we transition under the Flagship umbrella, we will move into their information systems for things like timekeeping, payroll, employee files, learning and development, managing benefit and retirement plans, etc.

We will work to make these transitions as seamless as possible. You will receive hands-on training from Flagship’s HR team for each of these systems, ensuring you have the necessary information to operate them successfully.

We hope that the culture will feel familiar. We know change can be difficult, but we have vetted Flagship from a business and human standpoint. We see a lot of similarities between our two teams, including the hands-on approach to fostering talent and providing clients with the best service possible.

Yes. In alignment with Flagship’s footprint, we will expand service offerings in current and new upcoming locations.

Yes. We do not anticipate any disruption in our organizational structure and will continue to provide you and our clients with the same level of support.

Your annual compensation and current paid time off accruals will remain the same.

Flagship offers a wide range of benefit plans, which we will learn about and transition into through the Onboarding process.

Clients have been notified in person, by phone, or email. If a client asks you a question you do not feel qualified to answer, please direct the questions to your immediate supervisor.

Flagship’s HR team will meet with us onsite to complete our onboarding process. During those sessions, you should ask questions to ensure everyone receives the individual support needed. As our teams come together, we will continue to meet additional key leaders over the coming months.

If you have questions, please call or email your direct Manager, or contact Flagship’s HR team at HR@wendy-morris.com. You can also submit questions to the Information Form below, and someone from Flagship will get back to you as quickly as possible!

A Leap of Faith

In 1988, Dave Pasek was living in Morgan Hill, California, with his wife, Kathy, and their one-year-old daughter. He had been working in the service industry most of his life when he had a revelation that a facilities maintenance provider could and should meet the holistic needs of its customers, not simply perform a necessary service. Dave and Kathy took the leap together and dove headlong into becoming that facilities maintenance provider.

Looking to the Future

The two of them risked everything on this new idea, taking personal loans in addition to their existing mortgage to acquire office space in downtown San Jose, refusing to accept the possibility of failure. Dave canvassed nearby business parks and office buildings, while Kathy handled Human Resources and crafted business proposals. The small company (named Service Performance Corporation) grew and persevered through good economic cycles and bad, even weathering the bankruptcy of one of its major customers.

As the company grew, Dave realized that the organization needed to diversify. In 2008, he changed the company’s name to Flagship Facility Services and steered it through several key mergers that accomplished both geographical and service expansion. With a personalized approach and the ability to provide solutions to small- and large-scale organizations, Flagship grew steadily and established itself nationwide as a premier provider of janitorial, engineering, culinary, maintenance, and facility management services.

In 2021, Flagship acquired DENS Facility Services – a leading provider of laboratory and facility maintenance services based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Building on the expertise gained through this new partnership, Flagship launched a Lab Services division specifically designed to meet the needs of early-stage Biotech companies from coast to coast. In the years to follow, Dave further grew Flagship’s footprint in the lab services sector through additional acquisitions within the Life Sciences space.

Today, Flagship is headquartered in Southlake, Texas. In its 35 years, the company has grown from a two-person startup to a facility services leader that employs more than 6,000 people and serves more than 1,800 client locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Dave still lives in Morgan Hill and functions as Flagship’s CEO. He remains actively involved in every important decision and excited by the opportunity to be of service.
